Shane White is the GIS Coordinator for the State of Rhode Island working for the Division of Planning in the Department of Administration. He graduated from the University of Vermont with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography with a minor in Geology and a concentration in Computer Science. After working as an undergraduate for Vermont's fledgling GIS program, Shane began his career at Esri as a GIS technician in California, later working in their R&D laboratory, and finally relocating to their northeastern US regional office where he served as their first regional consulting manager. This led him to his next position of GIS project manager at a regional consulting firm in Connecticut specializing in municipal GIS. He then moved on to the City of Worcester, Massachusetts where he served as GIS manager immediately prior to his current position. Over those years, he taught GIS courses at the University of New Haven and Clark University. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the following organizations: National States Geographic Information Council, the Northeastern Esri User Group (NEARC), and the New England Chapter of URISA (NEURISA).
