Danielle Ayan
Danielle is a Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP) and has worked with Geospatial technologies for over 13 years -- 11 years as a full-time professional in the Atlanta area and 2 additional years as a MS Geology Graduate student at Texas Christian University (via formal studies and petroleum/environmental internships). She is currently tasked with co-managing the Georgia GIS Data Clearinghouse , a duty shared between the Center for GIS and UGA's ITOS (Information Technology Outreach Services). Her past experiences have included full-time work with the North Central TX Council of Governments and with a local Atlanta engineering firm for whom she provided expertise in the environmental remediation and stormwater arenas; her main clients through the firm included EPA's Federal Facility Branch Region 4, City of Atlanta, and Fulton County. With all endeavors, Danielle has used and promoted Geospatial technologies and expertise as essential elements in (any) business process/analysis. In 2008-2009, Danielle is leveraging her visible position with the Georgia Tech Center for GIS and the Georgia GIS Clearinghouse to reach out to the community - federal, regional, state, local, and municipal governments, fellow academicians, private sector professionals and individuals to raise the level of awareness and support for coordinated, enterprise Geospatial Programs throughout Georgia and the nation. She applies her energy and advocacy agenda via the following roles: NSGIC 2008 - 2010 Board of Directors, GISCC (Georgia's GIS Coordinating Committee) 2008 Outgoing Chair, Georgia URISA 2008 - 2009 Immediate Past President (2007 Chapter of the Year), URISA 2009 International Associate Conference Program Chair and 2009 Chapter Relations Committee Outgoing Chair.
Danielle is the Principal Investigator on the current USGS-funded, statewide Geospatial Strategic Planning effort via the Fifty States Initiative.
