Jim Scott

Jim Scott has worked in public service for eight years and serves as the State of Texas Geographic Information Officer and Director of the Texas Natural Resources Information System (TNRIS). TNRIS was founded in 1972 and grew out of pioneering efforts in Texas to establish coordinated mapping resources in 1960. Jim is a graduate of the University of Georgia School of Environmental Design and has spent most of his career as a landscape architect in the private sector applying GIS and remote sensing for large-scale natural resources planning and analysis. He founded and led a private consulting Austin-based company for ten years that provided satellite remote sensing and geographic analysis for energy, communications and natural resource industries.
