Chris Diller is the Geospatial Coordinator for the Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs, home to the Wisconsin National Guard and Wisconsin Emergency Management. For the past nine years his job has been to oversee and coordinate the department’s mapping activities including support for the State Emergency Operation Center and National Guard Joint Operation Center. He oversees all IT-related functions of GIS, which includes server and desktop management as well as contracting and application deployment. Chris has been an active participant in Wisconsin geospatial activities for the past 19 years. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin – LaCrosse with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography in 1995. Aside from a 3-year stint in the private sector, he has worked for the state of Wisconsin for the better part of his career.
Part of his job is to actively engage and coordinate with federal, state, local and tribal government as well as with private and non-profits organizations such as NSGIC. In Wisconsin he works closely with the State Agency GIS Coordination Team as well as the Office of the GIO on important issues specific to state agency needs.
Nationally his job requires him to engage in National Guard geospatial activities. During times of national emergencies, Wisconsin National Guard soldiers are often called upon to support the mission and GIS plays an important role. Chris ha been a member of NSGIC since 2005 and served on the NSGIC Board of Directors previously (2010 – ’11).
