You know I am a little surprised at this definition. I thought, apparently erroneously, that it was not appropriate to use the word being defined in the actual definition. I won't argue with Webster on appropriate defintions but it still surprises me.
I've always used "data about data" as a shorthand definition. Non-techie people seem to get that one.
